Friday, January 18, 2019

6 to 10 p.m.

Featured Artist, Jeff Robinson

Special Guest, Mikel Weisser, Executive Director, National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws

The U.S. has a long and controversial relationship with marijuana. The momentum surrounding the legalization of marijuana – whether for medical or recreational use has increased every election at the state level. From the violence of drug cartels to the image of peace-loving hippies – our culture is rapidly changing and embracing the drug for its medical benefits, as well as recreational use.

Artist Jeff Robinson presents “Altered State”, a collection of portraits that visually portray the emotional states of being. From anxiety to pain to peace of mind, marijuana has become an option that helps people achieve an “altered state.” But with a complex history, can this drug overcome the stigma and calm the political conflict associated with it.

Join us on Third Friday for an opening reception. Enjoy thought-provoking art while also discussing the benefits, the challenges and the controversies surrounding legalized marijuana. Representatives from both sides of the argument will be present to answer questions and engage in conversations.
